Ensemble Companio was invited to be one of six choirs performing at the fall conference of the Pennsylvania chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA-PA) on October 26, 2013. We performed arrangements of traditional music from South Africa, Ireland, and the USA, as well as music by William Byrd and Randall Thompson, all drawn from our 2013-14 concert program, Celebrations & Meditations. We are very grateful to ACDA-PA for the invitation and greatly enjoyed our visit to Millersville!
Our name derives from a late Latin form of the word companion, whose etymological meaning is basically "one with whom one shares bread." It reflects our belief that the sharing of choral music is an essential, nourishing, and healing endeavor, akin to the sharing of food.
