Ensemble Companio was invited to be one of six choirs performing at the fall conference of the Pennsylvania chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA-PA) on October 26. We performed arrangements of traditional music from South Africa, Ireland, and the USA, as well as music by William Byrd and Randall Thompson, all drawn from our 2013-14 concert program, "Celebrations & Meditations." We are very grateful to ACDA-PA for the invitation and greatly enjoyed our visit to Millersville!
Ensemble Companio wishes to give a very hearty thank you to the 80+ donors who helped our fundraiser reach and surpass a stretch goal of $5k. These generous gifts will make possible the recording and production of our second live album, America Singing, which will feature the best live tracks from this season's repertoire.
Our name derives from a late Latin form of the word companion, whose etymological meaning is basically "one with whom one shares bread." It reflects our belief that the sharing of choral music is an essential, nourishing, and healing endeavor, akin to the sharing of food.
